What are the 7 Chakras and Their Meanings? This is a MUST read

What are the 7 chakras and their meanings?chakra

Did you know that Chakra is a part of the Hinduism?

Chakra is a part of Yoga that is an Indian word that includes many different ways of moving your body.

From the beginning, Yoga has different meaning depending on who you asked.

Later the Hinduism made it a part of their religion and claim it as it belongs to the Hinduism.

Yoga is one of the Hinduism’s six orthodox philosophical systems and a very big part of this is Chakras, which I soon will write about.

Some people say that Yoga and chakra ARE Hinduism.

This means, you can not do Yoga without becoming a part if the Hinduism. If this is true I don´t know.

Personally, I want to do things that make me feel good and if that this then would bring me to Hinduism that is okay. What do you think? Please comment below.

So… What is chakra energy?

We are all energy, like I wrote in this article, and also is everything around us. In our body, we have energy points where the energy connects and should flow free. If the energy can not flow freely through this different point you will not feel like the best version of you.

The 7 Chakras – Overview

We have 7 different chakras.

These are the chakras from the lowest part in your body up to your head and over.

-The Root Chakra (Muladhara)

-The Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana)

-The Solar Plexus (Manipura)

-The Heart Chakra (Anahata)

-The Throat Chakra (Vishuddha)

-The Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)

-The Crown Chakra (Sahaswara)chakras

The Root Chakra, Muladhara

This is the lowest chakra and the one that we first develop as a child.

It is seated in the bottom of your spine and goes down your legs into the earth.

When the energy is free and can flow through your root chakra you feel peaceful, fearless and calm.

If the energy does not flow freely this can make you feel anxiety, fear and no calmness.

Color: Red

The Sacral Chakra, Svadhisthana

Here you have your creativity and sexual chakra.

This chakra we develop when we are around 3-4 years old.

If this chakra is unbalanced you may feel addictions, sexual frustration, or depression.

You can heal your self by allowing the energy to flow and doing this by playing like a child. Draw, dance, or just act as a child would in a game.

You can also keep this chakra in balance by sustaining a healthy sexual life and open up your self to those emotions that might come up.

Color: Orange

The Solar Plexus Chakra, Manipura

This chakra is about your inner self.

When you have clear goals and now exactly what you are looking for the energy goes freely in this third chakra.

If you, on the other hand, feel like you are lost and don´t know really where you are heading this means you chakra is not really in balance.

Color: Yellow

The Heart Chakra, Anahata

Here you will find all your love. Not the love just for one person, I mean the overall love.

Forgiveness, kindness, and gratefulness live here.

To love and be kind is not the same thing as saying yes to everyone. Love can actually be to say No because this is the will help in the long term.

A closed heart chakra can give you fear, jealousy or a feeling that you need things and need to “own” others.

To get a balance there are a lot of things you can do but one that I like more is to write gratitude lists. In this way, you pay attention to the positive things and give them thanks.

Color: Green

The Troat Chakra, Vishuddha

This is the first of the three higher chakras.

When you express something creative, this is where your energy comes from.

Here you can express your self with sound.

This Chakra helps you to find the truth and not lie.

In Sanskrit, vishuddha means ‘pure’.

Color: Blue

The Third Eye Chakra, Ajna

This is seated between your eyes and is going into your brain.

If you “listen” carefully, this chakra will guide you in the right direction.

Here you can also find clarity your dreams and fantasy.

Color: Indigo

The Crown Chakra, Sahaswaracrown chakra

If you open this chakra you will feel that you are one with everything.

Everyone can do this but it requires a lot of practice.

When you meditate or pray you to connect to the “higher” you that actually is “we”. If you get this connection you have opened the Crown Chakra.

Color: violet or white

But I have to make sure you don´t open this last door to fast. Some times people are too eager to find the highest version that they force the power. This can lead to thing like psychosis.

I don´t mean to scare you, just give your self-time.

Take it slow and you will find your way.

Unforntenly the scientists haven’t looked much into this yet so nobody really knows for sure how to go the safest way and what might not be so good.

I bet this will soon come though, now when so many people take use of Yoga and chakra.

Last words and Summary

To let the energy flow freely helped so many people so I really think this can be a way for anyone who likes to get a better connection with them self.

Yoga is a good way to start out if you are a newbie. In the Yoga, you work through your chakras and by the time this will bring more energy to you and more peace in life … And not to forget: A great body shape!

If you are worried, just take it slow and if you feel “bad”, just quit.

There are so many other ways to find your inner self and to be more spiritual. You will find something that works for you!

Me for example, I do some yoga but not much. Mostly I do gratitude and try to just stay still and reflect with to judgment to find my inner peace and more spiritually.

Please comment and write how you practice or if you have questions!

Namaste!

  1. This was amazing information as my wife and I are deeply into this. My wife started quite some time ago and got more into it when we found out she was pregnant! I have started now that I have found my Chi!!! Thank you for the information as I will be passing it along to my wife also looking into some of this ! Appreciate it .

    1. Thank you Trevor! Nice to hear that your wife feels better when she is doing yoga! Be careful though and read a bit about yoga and pregnancy. Take it slow and gentle 🙂 Wish you all the best in this journey!

  2. Great post Ellen,

So that’s what they mean! My friend keeps telling me that my Manipura is terrible and being the lazy person that I am, I always reply back “Tis cool thanks”, and he would shake his head and I would nod. Thinking back you’re right though, I do sometimes feel lost and out of balance, time to fix that!

    1. Hi Riaz,

      Wish you a great day!

      Best wishes

      Ellen

  3. I am pretty amazed to know the meaning behind the 7 chakras. I am not into Hinduism but I do believe in the energy of life transported to all creatures. It would seem logical to say that health problems could also happen if one of the chakras are unbalanced. Say you are having a hard time to forgive a person. Remorse and grief can eat you up and might bring a negative effect in one of your chakras can be the Anahata. It may result to heart problems or anything related. That’s what I felt before when i was full of hatred towards a certain person. I experience heartburn and tachycardia in which I had to consult a doctor. I’ve been meaning to try yoga but there is no yoga clinic in our area. I am not sure if I can do it in my own without a yoga trainor ’cause I have zero knowledge about it. What do you think could be the best solution for this?

    1. Thank you very much for this comment!

Yes, it is really amazing and it is such a big world, just digging into Yoga! No wonder so many people love it! 🙂

I think you are on the right pathway. Since you already figured out where some of your problems came from I think you are doing great work to your self. This is where it has to start!

If you want to try yoga online I would recommend starting by something that includes the name “for beginners”. Then it is made for you to understand and it is easy to follow!

      Best Wishes

      Ellen
